Although we are a small kiwi business we are in the business of fostering relationships with our families to allow the children to reach their full potential.
Our approach
The Speech Room is a private paediatric speech and language therapy clinic working with children and young adults. The Speech Room offers a range of support and therapy for our clients and their families with the idea that what was targeted in session is also implemented at home to generalize the skills needed to reach their full potential. Our goal with The Speech Room is to offer Auckland speech therapy services to anyone who needs it. All of our therapists have a minimum of five years experience and are constantly up-skilling to provide the most current and effective therapy possible.
The Speech Room is the partner clinic to The Move Room (Occupational Therapy). Caroline (the Director of both The Speech Room and The Move Room) had a vision of providing a private therapy service for children and their families where they were able to receive quality input using a holistic approach. She wanted to have a variety of Therapists to support the development of each individual that walks through the door together as a team. By having an OT, SLT and in the near future a PT on board this has allowed the team to provide their best service possible.
So what’s the meaning behind the logo you ask?
When going through the logo design process one thing Caroline wanted to incorporate was a hint of New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) as this is very close to her heart. And in the end the image that is used in the logo is the sign for “therapy” in NZSL. The Speech Room wants to embrace NZSL whenever and wherever possible (Caroline is by no means an NZSL tutor however she uses NZSL on a daily basis).
We first met Caroline 3 years ago, not long after our son had been diagnosed with Autism. Since our first meeting we have had ongoing support, wisdom and inspiration. Caroline tailored the speech and language therapy for our son plus gave advice and resources for us. Caroline is one fo the best in the business, she is energetic, highly skilled and a breath of fresh air. Her enthusiasm and passion for what she does is infectious, without her experience and caring approach our son would not have made anywhere near the amount of progress he has to date. We have been lucky enough to have Caro as our sons speech therapist for the last 2.5 years. In my opinion the key to any great speech therapist is to engage the child’s interest and build the learning around that. Caro is amazing at this skill and always adapts her practice to fit within the childs world.
